The responsibility of a community

Sacramento supplies the Japan with rice for sushi. We ship out many vegetables and fruit from this region. We are one of the largest farming regions in the West Coast. With this said we as a community here in Roseville have to take up the responsibility of using locally grown produce. We should not support apples from Washington when we have Apple Hill right here in our back yard. That just seems like nonsense. My challenge to the community of Roseville is to educate yourself on where your produce comes from when you shop at the grocery store. Speak out and complain, ask questions and demand for the integrity of our stores here in our community. We can make a difference for our community to have integrity and responsibility to our local farms.

The first seed in my little heart

The concept of farm to fork could have been influenced by my grandfather when I was a young child. I believe that his stories of the farmer at the dinner table made a very large impression on me. I distinctly remember sitting at the dinner table with my grandparents and him sharing about how exactly the little peas on my plate made their way there.
