The responsibility of a community

Sacramento supplies the Japan with rice for sushi. We ship out many vegetables and fruit from this region. We are one of the largest farming regions in the West Coast. With this said we as a community here in Roseville have to take up the responsibility of using locally grown produce. We should not support apples from Washington when we have Apple Hill right here in our back yard. That just seems like nonsense. My challenge to the community of Roseville is to educate yourself on where your produce comes from when you shop at the grocery store. Speak out and complain, ask questions and demand for the integrity of our stores here in our community. We can make a difference for our community to have integrity and responsibility to our local farms.

  1. I am born and raised in Nebraska, so I see daily how our food is made and where it comes from. I was surprised to learn just how much we directly impact the food available all over the world. Its amazing how easily we are able to ship things all over the world. Who would have thought that in the dead of winter in Nebraska, we could have fresh strawberries and banana's available through our grocery stores. I can imagine how shocked people were when they were first able to have that experience.
